The next government will be faced with tackling the climate emergency, biodiversity collapse, high costs of living, widening inequality in the housing market, and ensuring food and energy security.

These urgent challenges create competing pressures on land, and we need the countryside to offer multiple solutions. We also need the beauty, space to breathe, and freedom of the great outdoors that only our countryside and its landscapes. can offer to everyone.

We want to make sure that thriving rural communities and resolving the pressures on our countryside are front and centre in the political agenda. We call on all political parties to recognise the value of the countryside and its essential role in answering our nation’s challenges.

We want to see political parties commit to support common-sense and practical policies that would help secure a thriving countryside for generations to come.
