A special milestone: Celebrating 100 CPRE Gloucestershire Awards
Six Gloucestershire Projects receive a CPRE Gloucestershire Award for Excellence in Environmental and Community Impact; contributing to a 100-Award Charity Milestone.
CPRE Gloucestershire, the Countryside Charity, are proud to announce the recipients of its 2024 CPRE Gloucestershire Awards, recognising six outstanding projects that have made a significant contribution to enhancing the Gloucestershire’s environment and its communities.
Since 2008, CPRE Gloucestershire have celebrated innovative and sustainable initiatives, with a total of ninety-five projects honoured over the past seventeen years. This year’s awards are especially significant, as they bring the total number of projects recognised to 100; an outstanding milestone in our charity’s ongoing mission to celebrate the best of Gloucestershire.
“We are thrilled to reach this incredible achievement of 100 Awards, thanks to the dedication and passion of all the projects and people involved over the 17 years,” said Richard Lloyd MBE, Vice-Chair of CPRE Gloucestershire, who also leads on the Awards scheme.
The CPRE Gloucestershire Awards would not be possible without the continued support of Loxley, a law firm with particular emphasis on rural land and agricultural business, who have generously sponsored our Awards programme for the second consecutive year.
To mark this special occasion, CPRE Gloucestershire held our Awards Ceremony on 12th November at The Gillyflower on the Elmore Court Estate. The Gillyflower, a previous CPRE Gloucestershire Award recipient, is renowned for its environmentally conscious construction. The Estate is also home to ‘Rewild Things,’ a creative rewilding initiative featuring treehouses, also a previous Award-recipient. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Anselm Guise, owner of Elmore Court, and his team for graciously hosting our event. The Ceremony brought together project recipients, local organisations and guests for an inspiring afternoon of celebration and networking.
The Awards were presented alphabetically to the following projects by our charity’s President, Madeleine Bunting, a renowned writer, broadcaster and countryside advocate:
- Amberley Shop & Café
- Arlingham Pound Restoration
- Arundel Mill Pond Eel Pass
- Churnbridge Row
- Restoring Gloucestershire’s Heathlands for Wildlife & People (100th Award)
- The Rising Sun Woodcroft Community Pub Project
